Let’s start with your name and what you do.

I’m David, Data Engineering and Business Intelligence Lead at Evidation. I am responsible for magically transforming and delivering data.

Tell us about home.

I grew up in New Bedford, MA (the Whaling City) and after receiving my B.S. in Computer Science and working in the tech industry a few years I made the cross country trek to Los Angeles to attend graduate school at USC (go Trojans!). I ended up moving to Santa Barbara after spending many weekends up here and enjoying the small-town charm.

How’d you end up here?

I had a lot of leadership experience in high tech startups in different roles and was looking to work at a company that uses cutting-edge big data technologies to solve problems that improve lives.

Is there something else you’re doing at night?

I enjoy songwriting and producing original music, and can be seen performing around the Santa Barbara/SLO/Ventura area occasionally as a solo artist or part of a band.

What’s been your best day (so far) at Evidation?

I really enjoyed working with our team to design and create a scalable idempotent data lake. It was a very challenging problem that much larger and established data engineering organizations have achieved over time, but I was impressed we were able to tackle the challenge quickly with a much smaller team.
